The Chicago Dutch Lions FC men's team fought back from an early 2-0 score vs Chicago City SC at Speer Academy and tied the game in the 83rd minute. But in the 91st minute Chicago City SC was awarded a questionable penalty kick that they converted to 3-2 leaving the Lions empty handed.
The Lions were already facing a 2-0 score after 4 minutes with Gonda and Fernandez scoring for Chicago City SC. The Lions however played themselves back in the game, like they did against St. Louis in the previous game, and Asuka Kaneda scored 2-1 in the 38th minute off an assist of Patrick Koenig. In the second half the Lions were looking for the equalizer and were rewarded for their performance when Alex Kinateder scored in the 8rd minute giving the Lions some momentum. But in the 91st minute Chicago City SC got a penalty kick that Matei scored.
Head Coach Nikhil Erlebach commented on the game: " We just did not start the game well (again), but then played well and got back in the game and then a goal was disallowed and I believe we should have been given a pk, but instead they did on a very "soft" touch in the box. I believe we dominated the majority of the game and we never should have gone home empty handed tonight. But we will build on the good things and hopefully get rid of these moments in the game where we give up goals too easily."
Chicago Dutch Lions Fc is now 1-3-0 (3 points) and play the next three games at home. The next game is June 15 when they face St. Louis Lions again at 6pm. Chicago City SC is 2-0-2 (6 points).
